چکیده

It is feared that the increasing population of vehicles in the world and the depletion of fossil-based fuel reserves could render transportation and other activities that rely on fossil fuels unsustainable in the long term. Concerns over environmental pollution issues, the high cost of fossil-based fuels and the increasing demand for fossil fuels has led to the search for environmentally friendly, cheaper and efficient fuels. In the search for these alternatives, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been identified as one of the viable alternatives that could be used in place of gasoline in spark-ignition engines. The objective of the study was to present the modeling and multi-objective optimization of brake mean effective pressure and hydrocarbon emissions for a spark-ignition engine retrofitted to run on LPG. The use of a one-dimensional (1D) GT-PowerTM model, together with Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) neural networks, has been presented. The multi-objective optimization was implemented in MATLAB® using the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II). The modeling process generally achieved low mean squared errors (0.0000032 in the case of the hydrocarbon emissions model) for the models developed and was attributed to the collection of a larger training sample data using the 1D engine model. The multi-objective optimization and subsequent decisions for optimal performance have also been presented.

A Method for Pre-Calibration of DI Diesel Engine Emissions and Performance Using Neural Network and Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm

Diesel engine emission standards are being more stringent as it gains more publicity in industry and transportation. Hence, designers have to suggest new controlling strategies which result in small amounts of emissions and a reasonable fuel economy. To achieve such a target, multi-objective optimization methodology is a good approach inasmuch as several types of ...

Simultaneous high hydrogen content-synthesis gas production and in-situ CO2 removal via sorption-enhanced reaction process: modeling, sensitivity analysis and multi-objective optimization using NSGA-II algorithm

The main focus of this study is improvement of the steam-methane reforming (SMR) process by in-situ CO2 removal to produce high hydrogen content synthesis gas. Sorption-enhanced (SE) concept is applied to improve process performance. In the proposed structure, the solid phase CO2 adsorbents and pre-reformed gas stream are introduced to a gas-flowing solids-fixed bed reactor (GFSFBR). One dimens...

Modelling and optimization of a tri-objective Transportation-Location-Routing Problem considering route reliability: using MOGWO, MOPSO, MOWCA and NSGA-II

In this research, a tri-objective mathematical model is proposed for the Transportation-Location-Routing problem. The model considers a three-echelon supply chain and aims to minimize total costs, maximize the minimum reliability of the traveled routes and establish a well-balanced set of routes. In order to solve the proposed model, four metaheuristic algorithms, including Multi-Objective Gre...
